"Shamoononon drives like a farmer" (shamoononon)

So, I believe the discussion has come up on here before about what makes a Taco Salad so good. (Hint: It’s the deep fried bowl). Hey, look here, I found one such discussion.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Anyhow, today was Taco Salad day again at the cafeteria. I had obtained my taco salad and was walking down a hall back to my part of the building. A man, another engineer, came barreling out of a door leading to a large section of cubicles into the hallway presumably going towards the cafeteria. He spots me walking with my taco salad and his barreling slows to a slow methodical kind of walk. I was a little curious what his issue was but as he gets to within a couple feet of me he seemingly absent mindedly starts chanting ‘Taco, taco-taco.... Taco, taco-taco, taco-taco... Salad. Tacoooooo Salad’.
I wonder if he’ll be embarrassed when it occurs to him what he had done. Also, yes, a Taco Salad is THAT good.
What’s for lunch?

People do strange things when they're hungry. Thank you for sharing one such example with us. :)

another question! Is everyone’s version of taco salad the same? I think the midwest version is salad with taco meat, nacho doritos, and french dressing. Is that the norm in other places? I am guessing this is a fat midwest thing, but I have been wrong before. Btw I love this version.

Ours is typically the deep fried salad bowl, lettuce, carrot, black beans, corn, salsa, sour cream, and either chicken or beef taco meat. Not sure how common that is but it seems to be the average in San Diego.

sounds a lot healthier than ours.... About right I guess. I would take either version right now.

I had some marinated grilled chicken, coleslaw and whole wheat dinner rolls.

My in-laws eat this version. I find it repugnant. Taco salad is:
Fried bowl
Seasoned beef
Refritos
Cheese
LTO
Salsa
Sour Cream (optional)

He’s an engineer. His actions are expected.

Where in the Midwest is that? I don’t run into taco salads that often but at least at my work cafeteria it’s pretty standard - fried corn tortilla bowl, taco meat, shredded lettuce, tomato, salsa, cheese and sour cream, maybe some beans and olives tossed in for good measure, too.

I’m in michigan. In my cafeteria, they serve it the proper way with the bowl and the fresh stuff, but I’ve seen people make it the doritos way at home etc...
